Thanks to all who attended the “Grease Sing-A-Long”

[Posted May 1, 2017] An enthusiastic crowd of parents, students and friends of Uni attended the April 29 fund-raiser for Uni Theater Arts highlighted by the showing of the Sing-A-Long version of “Grease.” In addition to the movie were costume and dance contests under the direction of Uni’s own Ronnie Sperling ‘76. Created in 1985 to counter the effects on Uni of budget cuts across the L.A. Unified School District, more than $1 million has been raised to assist faculty and students. Anyone can contribute: 103-year-old Hal Cunningham, who attended the school when it was known as Warren G. Harding High, joined the ranks of donors in 2014 and helped out again in 2015! […]

Uni alum Steve Smith Sr. retires from football

[Posted Jan. 8, 2017] “Dear Commissioner Goodell: “This is to notify you that as of today, I, Steve Smith Sr., will no longer be antagonizing defensive backs. I am retiring from the National Football League.” With that letter, sent January 2, the greatest football player ever to attend University High School ended what could be a Hall of Fame career as an NFL star. Some of the highlights: The UHEF financed the renovation of the computer systems for the Mednick College Center at Uni, a facility originally made possible by a donation from Steve Kirsch ‘74 and his wife Michelle.
