20 Advanced Placement courses at Uni in 2017-18
[Posted October 31, 2017] Advanced Placement courses, which can carry college credits based on a end-of-course exam, are among the most in-demand courses at high schools throughout the country.
As in 2016-17, Uni is offering 20 AP classes for the 2017-18 term:
- AP Calculus AB
- AP Calculus BC
- AP Chemistry
- AP Computer Science
- AP English Language and Composition
- AP English Literature and Composition
- AP Environmental Science
- AP Government
- AP Macro Economics
- AP Physics 1
- AP Psychology
- AP Seminar
- AP Spanish Language and Culture
- AP Spanish Literature and Culture
- AP Statistics
- AP Studio Art: 2-D Design
- AP Studio Art: 3-D Design
- AP Studio Art: Drawing
- AP United States History
- AP World History
The course list is the same as last year, with the exception of the addition of AP Seminar, while AP Biology was dropped. The AP Seminar course was created in 2014 as part of a two-stage curriculum with AP Research, which will be offered at Uni next year.
Seminar provides an introduction to conducting independent analysis of complex ideas across various disciplines. When followed by AP Research, students can earn an AP Research and Seminar Certificate. When the two courses are combined with four other AP courses, a student can earn an AP Capstone Diploma.
It’s an impressive course list, and continues Uni’s long association with the College Board and giving students opportunities to earn college credits … a year or two early!
