Collins & Katz YMCA-Uni cooperation cited by LAUSD

[Posted April 10, 2018] The shared-use concept that eventually placed the new Collins & Katz Family YMCA on a corner of the Uni campus was saluted as a paradigm for future uses of the L.A. Collins & Katz Family YMCA finally opens at Westgate & Ohio

[Posted December 11, 2017] The long-awaited Collins & Katz Family YMCA formally opened its doors on Saturday, December 9, completing the more than six years of planning and building on what used to be a seldom-used corner of University High School. The section of Uni at the corner of Westgate and Ohio Avenues was for years home to four classroom bungalows which were used mostly for storage. Collins & Katz Family YMCA nearing completion at Uni

[Posted Feb. 17, 2017] The exterior scaffolds have been removed and the interior work on the massive Collins & Katz Family YMCA is continuing with opening expected in April. The work has been held back slightly because of the heavy rains in the area, but the pouring of the pools is continuing and the installation of the elegant copper roof is proceeding. Massive YMCA building taking shape

[Posted January 31, 2016] University High School principal Eric Davidson reports that the Collins & Katz Family YMCA now under construction at Westgate and Ohio Avenues is well on its way to completion: “The YMCA held its topping-out ceremony in November. The roof structure should be complete before El Nino arrives. They are on schedule to be open November of 2016.
